Intense Heat Wave Forces Cancellation of Bridgeport's Poker Series

Bridgeport, NJ - With forecasted temperatures hitting 100 degrees for tomorrow's event, Bridgeport's management team felt that cancelling the show was in everyone's best interest at this point.  "It's hot out there!" offered general manager Danny Serrano.  "Yesterday was hot, today even hotter, and tomorrow even worse.  I think three days straight of being directly out in this heat is absolutely not a good thing for the racers and fans.  We had an event at the track today that saw our EMTs dealing with numerous bouts of heat exhaustion.  We're not in the business of putting our racers, fans, or employees in that type of danger," Serrano added.

At the time of cancellation, there has been no makeup date planned or announced yet.  Bridgeport's next 811 Dig Safe Poker Series event 'Rumble on the River' will take place on Tuesday, August 21.  The next 'special' event will be held on Tuesday, July 17 - 'The 3rd Annual Three-For-All' featuring Super Late Models, 358 Small Blocks, and the USAC East Coast Wingless 360 Sprint Cars on the all-new 3/8 mile.  Action will resume this coming Saturday, July 7 as the Big Block Modifieds, 602 Crate Sportsman, MASS 305 Sprints, and Garden State Vintage all compete on 'Bike Night'.

"It's disappointing to cancel this big event especially after some of the racing that we've had recently.  Guys are coming from deep in the pack and winning races which is what gets the fans excited.  We look forward to keeping everything going next week and then onto the Three-For-All, Serrano added.  For more information you can log onto the track website www.bpspeedway.com, call the speedway at 856-467-4408, or check all the social media outlets.
